Fun turned fatal at Canyon Ferry Lake when Helena teen died while swimming

Fun turned fatal at Canyon Ferry Lake when a Helena teen died Saturday afternoon while swimming. Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton says several people had been swimming when the wind came up and the waves became larger near the Crittenden day-use area, on the west side of the lake, and the group lost sight of the 17 year old they say hadn’t been seen for about 10 minutes. After about two hours of searching, divers recovered the boy’s body in about 15 feet of water. An autopsy will be conducted in Missoula.
