City of Helena said there will be no impact to drinking water after sludge spilled into Tenmile Creek

The city of Helena said there will be no impact to the city’s drinking water supply, after sludge from an abandoned mine spilled into Tenmile Creek near Rimini. The EPA said in a statement that about 20 to 40 gallons was released Monday from the Susie Mine during a “dewatering” operation following a collapse that caused a blockage within the tunnel. The city of Helena takes much of its drinking water from the Tenmile Creek watershed.
