A 70-year-old Helena man is facing felony arson charges. Robert T. Chickene was recently arrested on suspicion of setting fire to a home on North Davis Street while people were inside. On Wednesday morning, law enforcement received a report that a bedroom was on fire and crews were able to extinguish the blaze within 10 minutes, according to the Helena Fire Department. Officers learned that Chickene was being evicted from the property, according to court documents, which state he allegedly told staff that he would “murder them and burn the place down.”
