Death of East Helena man while in police custody has been ruled suicide

The death of an East Helena man while in police custody has been ruled a suicide. The Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office reported Monday that the 25 year old inmate was found unresponsive in his cell shortly after 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18. An autopsy determined the man hung himself. The Montana DOJ will conduct an investigation into the in-custody death, Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton said in a statement.
