A Montana man has pleaded guilty to scamming an Iowa victim out of thousands of dollars following severe storms. According to multiple online media reports, 57-year old William Hurlbut Junior of Belgrade admitted he posed as a contractor following the August derecho in 2020, taking a 10-thousand dollar prepayment to repair damages to a disabled man’s home, and selling the man’s car without permission. Hurlbut Jr., spent the money on gambling and personal items, and never did any work on the man’s house, according to reports. He is awaiting a sentencing date.
