HELENA – A district judge in Helena has blocked a state law that allows only physicians and physician assistants to perform abortions. On Friday, District Court Judge Mike Menahan issued a ruling, saying the law was unconstitutional because it “violates Montanans’ fundamental right to a woman’s choice of health care providers.
The case began four years ago, when two registered nurses filed suit, backed by the Center for Reproductive Rights and the ACLU of Montana.
