Identity theft scam resulted in prison time for Great Falls woman

GREAT FALLS – An identity theft scam resulted in prison time for a Great Falls woman. Sheree Abbott, who admitted to a fraudulent check scheme in which she used fake identification cards and stolen checks between September 2019 and May 2020 to buy merchandise, was sentenced in federal court in Great Falls on Thursday [March 3]. A judge ordered the 34 year old, who pleaded guilty last year to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, to 26 months in prison, according to a news release.
