Two nonprofits challenge Helena forests’ National Travel Management Plan

Two nonprofit organizations have filed a lawsuit challenging the U.S. Forest Service’s Travel Management Plan.
The lawsuit, filed Friday by Capital Trail Vehicle Riders Association and Citizens for Balanced Use, argues the plan severely limits the number of Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest roads and trails to motorized use and that non-designated routes are now off-limits to the public. A spokeswoman for the Helena Ranger District said Monday staff is reviewing the filing.
