A fork in the road for some Helena worshippers may prove to be divergent. May 1 marked the official split of the United Methodist Church and the start of a new denomination, the Global Methodist Church. However, as of now, Helena United Methodist Ministries says that while other congregations might split off and change, the ministries here in Helena are going to continue just as they have for over 100 years. The newly formed Global Methodist Church leans more conservatively than its counterpart, with the main bone of contention being the LGBTQ+ community.
