Montana Jewish Project raising money to buy back state’s oldest synagogue

The Montana Jewish Project is raising money to buy back the state’s oldest synagogue. MJP is looking to raise $925,000 to purchase the original synagogue, built in 1891, called Temple Emanu-El, from the Catholic Diocese of Helena and establish the first Jewish community center in the Rocky Mountain West. MJP has only been fundraising since signing the contract in November and in just six months, nearly 2,000 individual donors from Helena, and from around the world, have rallied around the effort.
