HELENA – The Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet next month [Aug. 2] to consider postponing the implementation of a commercial use cap on the Madison River. Rules adopted in 2020 would limit the number of fishing outfitting and guided trips, according to a press release. The commercial use cap is scheduled to take effect Jan. 1, 2023. However, commissioners have proposed moving that date until after a comprehensive river plan is adopted and public comments are reviewed. Comments are due by Aug. 5.
