Poop-lution project aims to clean up air quality in Billings

BILLINGS – A human waste project aims to clean up air quality in Billings. When human waste is flushed down the toilet it eventually ends up at the Billings landfill and takes up critical air space creating poop-lution. But that’s about to change thanks to the city’s new $2.5 million planned composting program to divert 3 to 6 truckloads of human waste every day from the Billings landfill to the new site. Officials said the move could eventually allow the city to accept food waste from residents and restaurants. Construction is set for winter or early spring.
