New pay plan could mean more money for state workers

HELENA – A new pay plan could mean more money for state workers. The Gianforte administration, the Montana Federation of Public Employees and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees released an initial outline of a proposal on Friday to raise workers pay by $1.50 an hour or 4%, whichever is greater, in an effort to address the rising cost of living and staff shortages. The pay hike plan will still need to win approval from the Montana Legislature during the upcoming 2023 session.
