HELENA – This Thanksgiving, the Helena Fire Department wants to remind folks to stay safe and be mindful when cooking. As we prep for a day gathered with family and friends, the fire department says a few tips can help prevent disaster over the holiday, including never leaving cooking food unattended, making sure smoke alarms work, and if you decide to deep fry a turkey make sure to follow the manufacturers’ recommendations. According to the National Fire Protection Association, the most amount of home fires involving cooking equipment occurs on Thanksgiving.
