Vote close for Republican pushed personhood bill

BILLINGS – The vote remained close for the Republican pushed Referendum 131 Wednesday morning. According to the Montana Office of the Secretary of State, there was 52 percent in favor of the measure that seeks to make any infant born breathing or with a heartbeat, no matter how fatal the illness, a legal person. Hundreds in the medical community opposed the measure saying it could prolong suffering. Doctors who do not comply could face up to 20 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
