Parents are being warned of deadly blackmail sextortion scheme targeting children

Parents are being warned about a deadly blackmail sextortion scheme targeting children that in some cases leads to suicide. The FBI issued a public safety alert Monday saying law enforcement has received 7,000 reports this year of minors, mostly boys, being coerced into sending explicit images of themselves and then being extorted for money. At least a dozen of the victims took their own lives, according to the FBI. The agency says the minors are being targeted on social media sites, games sites and video chat apps.
