New bill would limit where marijuana businesses can open up in state

HELENA – Montana lawmakers heard testimony Thursday on a bill that would put new limits on where marijuana businesses can operate. The bill would increase the minimum distance between marijuana businesses and schools or places of worship, and prohibit new marijuana dispensaries in areas where voters opposed the 2020 legalization vote. Supporters said it would address some local communities’ concerns about the industry, but business owners called it an unnecessary imposition.
