Republican backed bill pushes for absentee ballot restrictions

Montana voters who signed up to receive mail-in ballots will have to register more often if a Republican backed bill is passed. HB 335 introduced Wednesday in committee proposes sending notices to absentee voters every four years, which they must fill out and return within 60 days, or their registration gets cancelled and they would be removed from the absentee list. Democrats opposing the bill suggest it would disproportionately hamper voting for Native Americans on reservations. The committee did not immediately act on the bill.
