HELENA, Mont. – A major piece of Gov. Greg Gianforte’s budget proposal has been halted by the legislature. House Bill 268, which establishes a child tax credit through the individual income tax, was voted down in the House Appropriations Committee, 9-14. There was bipartisan support both for and against the bill, which could still be revived.
