Former Carroll College student sented for 2021 DUI crash that killed friend

There was barely a dry eye in a Lewis and Clark County court room during the sentencing of a former Carroll College student charged in a 2021 DUI car crash that killed his friend. Hunter Nicely, 20, who was driving during the fatal wreck received a 15-year suspended sentence Thursday, after the victims family told the judge they did not want him to go to prison. Nicely, who was out celebrating his 19th b.day with friends, struck a post and overturned near Cedar Street and I-15, killing fellow student Bridget Marie Kirby. A cross honoring the 20 year old remains on the I-15 ramp in Helena.
