A former state assistant attorney general was sentenced Thursday on one felony count of aggravated assault against her 3 year old child. A judge ordered Katherine Proctor, of Helena, Thursday, to the maximum of 20 years in the Montana Women’s Prison, with credit for time served. She’s been jailed since Dec. 15, 2022, after the 39 year old mother was found guilty following a nine-day trial, according to documents. The conviction stems from a 2021 incident in which Child Protective Services says the toddler suffered from bleeding on the brain, caused by severe abusive trauma.
