First-ever constitutional climate case filed by Montana youths approved for trial

The nation’s first-ever constitutional climate case filed in 2020 by 16 Montana youths has cleared its pretrial conference. The plaintiffs, ranging in ages from 2 years old to 18, are asking the court to declare Montana’s fossil fuel-driven energy system as unconstitutional. The trial has been set for June 12 in Lewis and Clark County and will be livestreamed at alternating locations in Helena.
