Three new Helena Police officers were sworn in Monday by the Helena City Commission. The department has struggled recently to employ a full force and said the three new recruits bring the current total of deputies to 50. The department is budgeted to employ 53 officers. HPD’s most recent application period closed May 15, with 45 applicants applying for the remaining three vacancies on the force. Prospective officers will begin testing on June 17.
