A Wyoming man has been charged after reporting to authorities that he shot a grizzly bear outside Yellowstone National Park along the North Fork, after mistaking the animal for a black bear. Patrick M. Gogerty, faces jail time and up to $25,000 in restitutionif convicted of killing the protected grizzly bear. His hunting license could also be suspeded for six years. He is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow [May 19]. Grizzlies in the Yellowstone region of southern Montana, eastern Idaho and northwestern Wyoming are a federally protected species.
