Arizona woman gored by bison in Yellowstone National Park

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – An Arizona woman was seriously injured when a bison attacked her in Yellowstone National Park Monday morning [July 17]. The 47-year-old from Phoenix was walking in the field near Lake Lodge with another person when they saw two bison, one of which charged and gored the woman, park officials said in a statement. She was treated at an area hospital for wounds to her chest and abdomen. Authorities are warning YNP vistiors to always stay more than 25 yards (23 m) away from bison. It is unknown how close the victim was. This incident remains under investigation.
