DUI allegations prompt Montana’s Labor & Industry Commissioner to resign

HELENA – Montana’s Commissioner of Labor and Industry is stepping down following an alleged DUI in Missoula.
According to a statement, “Commissioner Laurie Esau [ee-saw] offered her resignation to governor Greg Gianforte Monday, effective immediately. DLI Chief of Staff John Elizandro will serve as acting commissioner, the statement noted. On the Missoula County jail roster Monday morning, Esau was listed as being booked shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. She was released about 30 minuts later after posting bond.
