Opening arguments Tuesday in the Lewis and Clark County Courthouse marked the beginning of the homicide trial for Brandon Michael Beckman, 36, accused in a fatal 2022 drug deal gone wrong. Beckman is charged in connection to the murder of 39-year-old Michael Anthony Biggs, who police say Beckman and another man robbed and killed at Moose Creek Campground near Rimini west of Helena. According to Lewis and Clark County Sheriff and Coroner Leo Dutton, Biggs’ body was found by passers-by on Rimini Road off U.S. Highway 12 frozen with a single gunshot wound to the head. Beckman’s trial is expected to last two weeks.
