Beginning teachers make less money in Montana than anywhere in the U.S.. That’s according to a Republican legislator who introduced a bill Monday seeking to retain teachers by offering them more money. House Bill 143 would incentivize school districts to bump pay rates for beginning teachers. The bill, dubbed the TEACH Act saw no opponents on Monday. The House Education Committee meets again on Wednesday.
