The race is on for East Helena’s mayoral seat. Councilman Kelly Harris has thrown his hat in the ring to unseat two-term incumbent Mayor James Schell. Harris has run for office in East Helena’s last three elections and says he decided to file for mayor with the priority of getting the East Helena Police Department back on track, after sexual allegations left the EHPD without a chief since March.
MEANWHILE…
Mayor James Schell was a councilman before defeating the previous mayor In 2017. He ran unopposed for a second term. He says infrastructure and housing will be his focus, as the city prepares for a growth spurt. Ballots will go out to voters in the city of East Helena on Wednesday, Oct. 13.
