The Roman Catholic Diocese of Helena building could soon be home to a Jewish synagogue. The church first opened in 1891, as Temple Emanu-El, the first Jewish synagogue in Montana. Now, a new agreement could once again lead to the transfer of the building back to the Jewish community. On Thursday, the leader of the diocese, ceremonially signed the interfaith agreement committing the sell of the building to the Montana Jewish Project once they secure the needed funds. Leaders hope to make the move in the coming months.
