Enrollment doubles at small rural school northwest of Helena

A small rural school northwest of Helena is seeing more students in classrooms lately. Canyon Creek Elementary School has averaged 16 or 17 students per year, but recently enrollment has doubled, and district leaders say their current water and sewer systems aren’t in compliance to accommodate the extra load. Now, school district leaders are looking at several big projects to adjust to the growth, including a new well and septic system. School leaders also hope to break ground on a new addition this spring to add two classrooms, as well as two additional bathrooms.
