HELENA – The Montana Jewish Project celebrated their official purchase of the Temple Emanu-El with a small community celebration on Friday morning. Built in 1891 and sold to the city of Helena in 1935 for $1, the building eventually landed in the hands of the diocese to be used as administrative offices. In 2021, the diocese and the Montana Jewish Project (MJP) signed an agreement that allowed the buyback of Temple Emanu-El. The MJP plans to rent out the first 2 floors of the building while utilizing the 3rd and final floor as a Jewish community center.
