HELENA – 2022 ended with a big spike in Montanans having to utilize food pantries, but advocates are working to launch a Farm to Food bank prgram to help with supply and demand. A proposed new bill is aimed at establishing partnerships, in which organizations would serve as “food hubs,” and purchase Montana-grown products and distribute them to pantries in their areas to bring fresh local products to families in need. HB 276 is set for a first hearing Tuesday in the House Agriculture Committee.
