Montana proposes a bill that would allow doctors to opt out of certain medical procedures. Republican sponsored House Bill 303, introduced Monday [Jan. 30], would provide protections for medical practitioners and facilities who object to providing health care services based on religious beliefs. Some Democratic lawmakers who oppose the proposed legislation, argue that medical staff already can refuse to provide care based on their faith, and the bill would be both a violation of federal law and a violation of patient rights.
