Gov. Greg Gianforte reaches across the isle signs ‘troubled teen’ law

Gov. Greg Gianforte reached across the isle on Wednesday and signed new regulations meant to further prevent abuse and neglect at youth boarding homes. House Bill 218, sponsored by Helena Democratic Rep. Laura Smith, establishes a new set of rules for so-called “troubled teen” programs in northwest Montana, following allegations kids were being abused. The bill takes effect in October.
